Roseau County 193 Positive Cases; with 5 new cases reported today; 40  ACTIVE Cases; 153 having recovered (out of isolation).

The World Health Organization says that a 14-day positive test rate of below 5 percent is the key to keeping businesses open.

Minnesota has reported a further 17 deaths from COVID-19 and more than 1,700 cases in the state’s Sunday update.

All 17 of the deaths reported Sunday were in patients aged 60 or older, with 14 of them occurring in long-term care facilities.

There were 1,717 positive tests reported, of which 10 were removed for a total of 1,707 confirmed cases.

The MDH reported 30,020 diagnostic PCR tests and an additional 1,614 antigen tests for a total of 31,634 completed tests.

Those tests were from 19,967 people tested. As if often the case, patients are tested multiple times, so the more accurate reading for test positivity rate is based on the total number of people tested, which today is 8.55%.

The positivity rate when total cases is divided by total tests is 5.39%. Health experts say positivity rates need to be below the 5% mark to control the spread of the virus.

The 17 newly reported deaths pushes Minnesota’s COVID-19 death toll to 2,234, of which 1,574 have been residents of long-term care facilities.

Statewide:

  • Total tests: 2,509,734 (up from 2,477,132)
  • People tested:  1,681,318 (up from 1,661,351)
  • Positive cases: 122,812 (up from 121,090)
  • Deaths: 2,234, 10 of which are “probable*” (up from 2,217)
  • Patients no longer requiring isolation: 108,316 (up from 106,774)
